Organisationally, the Centre for Professional Development (CPD) is located within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and operates under the direction of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). CPD's role is to assist the Deputy Vice-Chancellor fulfil responsibilities in relation to professional development by:
promoting policies and practices within the University which recognise and support the key contribution that academic and general staff make to the University's pursuit of excellence in scholarly teaching, research, administration and community outreach
implementing University-wide professional development policy
auditing the University's professional development programs, activities, and services
providing a range of research-based professional development programs, activities and services to support core areas of University activity--teaching, research, community outreach, leadership and management, administration and support
engaging in a range of research activities including institutional, policy, applied, and basic research into the professional development of staff in each of the core areas of University activity
assisting offices, colleges, divisions, and other academic units to design, develop, implement and evaluate professional development programs to meet current and emerging needs
