Macquarie University Women’s Network

Mission

To support the personal and professional lives of academic and general female staff at Macquarie University in support of Equal Opportunity and the progress of women within the tertiary sector.

The Macquarie University Women’s Network is an informal group comprised of both academic and general staff from across the University. The Network is designed to provide an opportunity for female staff to discuss issues relevant to work and their lives more broadly. Through a series of Professional Development Seminars and Informal Networking forums, the Network forms a way for female staff to widen their professional and social network beyond individual faculties and divisions. The Network also distributes news and information to members via the Women’s Network email list.

Since 2004 the Women’s Network has held seminars and events on a variety of topics relevant to women in the tertiary sector. These include professional development, work/life balance, influence and communication and profiles of women working in the sector.

In 2006 the Network is hosting seminars on topics including:

Seminars are presented by a range of guest speakers, industry experts, specialists across the sector and advocates of women’s personal and professional development. Through their participation, staff find these events beneficial and relevant to their working lives and enjoy the opportunity to interact with colleagues.
