Methods - Vignettes
Designing the vignettes
Vignettes are in-depth interviews designed to provide a contextualised view of the issues that arose from the surveys. In particular they were designed to be descriptive in nature in order to:
- highlight the manifestations of particular issues in different contexts;
- explore the opportunities and challenges evident in these contexts; and
- provide examples of good practice.
All interviews are being conducted by the same researcher, either face-to-face or on the phone. The interview were based around survey questions, and the interviewee is prompted at points of interest. Participants were also invited to make any comments they have regarding WBLT and the future of learning and teaching online.
Participants
Participants self nominated through an invitation attached to the end of the surveys. In total, 10 staff and 10 students participated in the interviews across the participating universities.
Analysis
The vignettes were recorded and transcribed. Each vignette is being reported individually to highlight the context of each case.
